Login Screen

The Login screen is where you sign in to Netflixter. Enter your login ID into the 'Login' field, and enter your password into the password field. You can save your password to prevent from having to enter it every login. You can also check the 'Auto Sign In' check box to automatically sign into that account when you launch Netflixter.

If you have multiple profiles you may select them from the drop down box under 'Login'.

Netflixter allows for 'guest' access by typing in another users's login and password they can access their account.

General Options

Check 'Show Box Art' if you wish to see the box art of the selected movie within the program. Unchecking this option will improve movie detail loading speed for dial-up users.

'Shuffle Keeps Series Together' (Checked by Default)

Check 'Shuffle Keeps Series Together' to keep television series together when using the queue shuffle option. If this is unchecked all discs in a series will be shuffled.

'Check for Netflixter updates' (Checked by Default)

Check 'Check for Netflixter updates' to have Netflixter automatically check for updates once a week to make sure your software is always up to date. If this is disabled, you are still able to check for updates manually by using the 'help - check for update' menu item.

Cache Options

Caching speeds up application performance dramatically. You can enable caching on several items, include how long you wish your cache to stay before it's refreshed. Caching does however take extra disk space to store the data, it also can take some time to download the data from Netflix. For dial-up users, only queue and history tables are downloaded by default.

You can customize which sections you wish to have cached or not.

'Pre-load In' will store all the details of movies in your Queue on your computer so you can view the details of any movie in your Queue instantly.

The 'Buy' button allows you to jump directly to Amazon.com to purchase any movie you're browsing.

The 'Add' button adds the currently selected movie to your queue. If this button is disabled, then the movie is already in your queue.

The 'IMDB' button takes you to IMDB.com, the internet's #1 movie information site for more reviews and information.

Blue Stars show the average Netflix user's rating for that movie.

Green Stars show your own rating. You can set them or change them by clicking on the stars either above the detailed information or within the Queue Browser.

Purple Stars show your average friend's rating.

Two Cents, give any movie your two cents to let your friends know what you think of a movie.

Quick Tab Controls:

Each tab is a different section of the Netflix service. The Queue Tab shows your 'In,' 'Out,' 'Not Released,' and 'History'. The Browse Tab is where you can browse through the 'New Releases,' 'Award Winners,' and 'Top 100' movies. The Recommended Tab shows Netflix's top 10 recommended movies for you. The Friends Tab shows your friend's 'Suggestions,' 'Favorites,' and 'Recent' movies. The Search Tab shows results from a search query.

Search

To search type in a movie title, actor name, or genre into the search box and click 'Go'. You can easily toggle the results by clicking on the corrosponding button.

Import History

You can import your entire Netflix rental history. To do so, first request your entire Netflix history from Netflix's website. Then click on the 'History' button on the 'Queue' Tab in Netflixter. Press the 'Import' button on the form. Netflixter will bring up a form in which you paste the text of the email Netflix sent you with your entire rental history. Then click 'OK' and Netflixter will do the rest. Any movie it doesn't find, Netflixter will prompt you to help manually match.

Friends Ratings

You can see all your friends ratings as well as comments they have left about the movie.

Color Coding

Netflixter automatically color codes your fields for the DVDs you have out.

  • Green = the movie was shipped to you less than 7 days ago.
  • Yellow = the movie was shipped to you between 7-13 days ago.
  • Red = It's been more than 2 weeks, and you should get to watching your movies!

Tracking

Netflixter allows you to track your received and return dates manually. In the "Received" column, enter the date that you received the DVD in the mail. In the "Returned" column, enter the date you put the DVD in the mail. These dates are used to measure your turnaround time.
